Dear Witchy Woman,
Wanna know a secret? Your words are your wand.
I’m about to take you from boring muggle to sparkly wizard, with one perception-bending Scorpio love letter.
“Your words are your wand.”
This probably sounds familiar because I’ve repeated this exact phrase ad nauseam during my weekly Q+As on Instagram, over the past few years. I’ve said it an overwhelming (obnoxious?) amount of times. Hundreds at this point? & IDC if it’s tired! I’ll keeping saying it! Until I’m blue in the face! & FOR WHY? I’m one who believes (emphatically!) that the stories we tell about ourselves + life, become our reality.
Stories become our lens. Stories create beliefs, & as philosopher William James said, “Believe and your belief will create the fact.” Stories matter. But stories are subjective, + less concrete than we assume. Stories exist in the mind— & are… well, just a conglomeration, a collection, of thoughts we’ve picked up from others. They’re habitual. We walk around, programmed with OTHER’S stories, forgetting that we didn’t even consciously choose them, but more so downloaded them from life.
I had a story as a child, that I was shy. If I was in big groups or at a party with my parents & didn’t want to talk, what was mirrored back to me was “Oh she must be shy!”. Stories play out so many times, until you think that they’re “YOU.” You affirm “I Am shy.” It’s then what life mirrors back to you. You enter new situations with these stories & think, “I could never go talk to them! I’m shy!!” Until one day I realized I actually wasn’t shy. Not at all. 0% of me is shy. I’m selective with who I open up to! I’m a scorpio! Scorpio children are born with RBF! If I don’t want to talk, I simply WON’T.
